“It’s not just the perfect sound of the main room or the amazing quality of studio equipment, mics and amps, it‘s the character and skill of the staff of Trolley House.”
– UNTD SNKS
Going into our week at Trolley House, we thought we had an idea of what to expect. We had been to the studio before and seen their amazing set up. As eager as we were to work with the team at Trolley House, we were unprepared for the full scope of what we were in for. Day 1 of recording blew us away. It’s not just the perfect sound of the main room or the amazing quality of studio equipment, mics and amps, it‘s the character and skill of the staff of Trolley House. The attitude and atmosphere let us make the record we wanted to make. The robotic nature of most studios is non-existent at Trolley House. Marco, Hannah, and Chris treated us like family, and the mechanical rush that can loom in most studio settings wasn’t a factor. For the Snakes, rock and roll is more than music; it represents the community that we come from. Trolley House understands that value, and they operate with a similar mindset. The studio they have created is a direct response to everything they disliked about recording experiences in the past. This is a studio built by musicians, for musicians. ~ UNTD SNKS
“After you meet the talented people behind Trolley House Productions, you will understand what they are putting back into this city is 100% pure creativity.”
– Leg Sweeper
Being a Dallas native, it is always encouraging to see something new and substantial popping up in our town, especially when it comes to music, video or the arts. I have watched Trolley House Productions grow from the ground up. Literally. Marco Street and Chris Southward took the space and ran with it. The feeling is of a cool and funky “warehouse” with a hidden secret inside. Impressively, they have everything you need, studio wise and equipment wise, but more impressively they have the feel and concept down pat. This isn’t just another place that stifles your creativity by making you feel like you have to clock in and out. Trolly House is truly an environment fostering creativity in all they do from music to video production to audio engineering. These dudes are awesome, down to earth and “real” people who make rocking out easy and recording a breeze.
Though being the new kid on the block, they have left a hugely relevant fingerprint and have attracted some of my favorite Dallas artists. They have stuck by me as a friend and stuck by my band Legsweeper from the beginning. But, we are sure anyone who has had the pleasure of working with them would say the same. Being musicians who are into the progressive scene, Marco and Chris have infused these ideals into the Trolley House business model giving it a distinct feeling of community and setting them apart from most local production houses. It’s safe to say the people at Trolley House actually “get it” when it comes to this “industry,” and they will always “keep it real”. And, that means a lot! ~ Leg Sweeper
“State-of-the-art facilities, top-of-the-line recording equipment and incredibly talented engineers might be found at studios smattered all over town, but the intangibles that Trolley House Productions has to offer cannot be duplicated.”
– Emy Taylor
I don’t know if it’s the beer dispensing Coke machine at the end of a 19th-century bar or just the vibe exuded by the guys holding your music in their hands, but the Trolley House environment will wiggle your creative bones. Couple that with a price point that lets you know music comes first and there is simply no competition: your choice is Trolley House Productions.
“I can’t say enough for their kindness, perfection, and gifts. Trolley House is going to be world famous very soon… “
– Larry Randall | Director
…as we plan to promote them on all of our television and concert appearances. If you have a chance to record at this very cool place…DO IT!!
My name is Larry Randall and I am the director of the Joshua Experience, a Christian Big Band who had the privilege of recording with the team at Trolley House. The experience was one of pure joy. Though having never recorded a large 22 piece ensemble group, Trolley House staff nailed the logistics which could have proven daunting. Instead, the unique configuration, one which we had not previously seen in any other recording session, proved to be the perfect setup enabling us to get our 18 song endeavor done in just two, that’s right, two evenings.
“As a girl who is new to recording and music, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!”
– Betsy Phillips
“Trolley House is one of the best kept secrets in Dallas and, in my opinion, someone should be beaten with their own shoes for keeping it! The is the coolest place in town to record a record. Hands and feet down.”
– Rocky Presley
What recording studio has a 30′ bar, a place for you to crash, a dog you can saddle and ride around the warehouse and a top notch recording facility?
The greatest thing about Trolley House Productions is that it has heart and character, and those qualities shine through in your own work when you choose to do a project there. Marco and Chris poured their hearts into this production facility, and are two guys that you will want to partner with time and time again. But, we all know just having two cool guys doesn’t necessarily mean a great recording. They counted the cost of building a studio that would truly serve a client well. In other words, you aren’t paying good money for some guy’s garage build-out. The tracking room sounds amazing and the gear is second to none. You might find other studios with more toys, but you will be hard pressed to find one that performs as well as Trolley House without paying a premium amount for a multi-million dollar studio. In the land of mid-size affordable production houses in Dallas, Trolley House stands alone.
Meet the people who are behind the magic.
Marco Street | Owner & Chief Engineer is a life-long musician, now realizing his dreams to be on both sides of the microphone. Though formally trained in piano, guitar, and recording arts, he brings a unique perspective to sound, letting instincts guide his ear beyond traditional approach. His time at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts as both a jazz and classical guitarist bred in him a greater love for music as a collaborative art form. He brings this passion to the console, embracing the symbiotic relationship between artist and engineer.
Chris Southward | Owner & Second Engineer has always felt a profound connection to sound, channeling his passion through the reed of a saxophone. He taught himself the recording process when he discovered the life behind the glass was more satisfying than the stage. As an audio engineer, he strives to work with the artist in constructing the perfect paradigm to exist beyond the restraints of time. Sound lives in the moment it is received, but for Chris, sound endures in infinity.
Hannah Smith | Studio & Office Manager is involved with every level of production THP offers. She manages projects, allocates resources and is always working to promote integrity at Trolley House. Hannah has been committed to Trolley House Productions since day one and will continue to identify and seize opportunities for change, growth and excellence. With her background in the creative arts and a passion for production, her dreams for their ten-thousand square foot warehouse are limitless. Hannah’s role at THP is to facilitate the realization of your dream.
Kara McDonald | Video Producer & Editor is known for her eye for detail and creative flair. Kara has edited and produced short films, promos, trailers, documentaries and commercials. Whether working independently or as part of a creative collaboration, Kara’s enthusiasm and great attitude always produce high quality work.
